“ Great tasty authentic affordable Japanese food option in midtown, truly a contradiction in many sense. Been here many times. They have prepared box foods, onigiri (triangles of nori covered stuffed rice/japanese kimbop), dons, curry, pasta, tempura, sushi/sashimi, ramen udon oden for prices far below what other restaurants charge. It's a functional pickup and go place not high end dining. When eating in, would recommend katsu curry rice, ramen udon dons and pasta. Upstairs seating area, has bathroom and microwave to heat up your food. On pleasant days, take you Japanese food and go on Bryant park to dine al fresco. Highly recommend for locals and visitors. ”

“ Went here to pick up lunch with coworkers. It's a bit hectic during lunch time. Wasn't aware that you need to order your food at the register first then pick it up unless you're grabbing the already made bento boxes. There's plenty of options though, ranging from sushi, udon, ramen, bento boxes, etc. I think it's also fairly priced for lunch. Enjoyed what I picked up for lunch but wasn't the biggest fan of their onigiri, esp the karaage one. Would like to try their udon next time. ”

“ Loved their no-frills yet tasty onigiri for $2.99. Tastes fresh and home-made. We decided it would be a nice stop next time we take visitors around New York. 1 - Bryant Park 2 - New York Public Library 3 - Sunrise Mart for snacks and food. They also have ramen and rice platters but we didn't try any of those. Fun find! You could tack on a visit to Grand Central Station right after! ”

“ I work in the area and a coworker recommended this spot to me. They told me the onigiri was good. I got 2 onigiris one was spicy salmon and the other was spicy tuna. I came in the morning time around 10am. It was pretty chill I was the only person dining in at that time. I was able to read my book in peace. These onigiri were pretty good. They were hot and fresh when I grabbed them. The shape was perfect. These may be some of the best onigiri I've had in New York so far. I usually get mines in soho but those spots don't compare. You could taste the freshness of the salmon and tuna. I was able to get a good blend of fish with rice in each bite. Also, I could taste the spices. I enjoyed it and would definitely come back. ”

“ Not bad (would probably rate closer to a 3.5 but rounded up) for the price! Came by to pick up a quick lunch on a Thursday with some coworkers. This place was super packed and the line wrapped around the space, but moves pretty fast. I got the tempura udon and a spicy salmon onigiri. Loved the udon soup - very flavorful and the noodles were also very chewy/firm which exceeded my expectations for a more grab-and-go type of place. There's also a good amount of tempura provided albeit flavor is a little stale but not bad when you submerge in the soup. The onigiri is also not bad - kinda cold but was kind of expected. Overall, food isn't bad for the price so would come back and try some of the other bowls! ”

“ You may see 2 locations for sunrise mart. One's a supermarket and the other is a food "court" right next to it where you can get fresh food items such as onigiri, nigiris, etc. There's a great selection of options. The staff are efficient at making the foods. There's a few tables/high bar seating to enjoy the foood there as well. Fresh, delicious, and good quality. Good for picnics, snacks/meal for or before a flight or any other trips, everyday lunch or dinner, etc. The possibilities are endless. ”

“ Lots of choices for Japanese and Asian grocery. Their sister store next door has more choices of prepared foods ( no grocery). Inexpensive bento with enough food for two meals for around $14. Fast and courteous check out. ”

“ When you're in New York and want to save some money on breakfast, marts like these are such a great option. You get so much food for a great price, and it's on the healthier side! The downstairs area has different options from bowls to poke, to sushi, and others. You then can go upstairs and there is a seating area to eat! ”
